Formal Reasoning
Newcomb-Tulane College expects all students to demonstrate they think with rigor and precision and can use formal or mathematical models for logical reasoning and objective analysis. Students will display basic quantitative literacy at a minimum.
Students with mathematical-based learning considerations should connect with the Goldman Center for necessary accommodations, such as testing and notetaking support.
For content-based support in mathematical and logical reasoning, students should consider the following:
- The Academic Learning & Tutoring Center and the Math Center for peer tutoring and support from MATH professors and TA's
- Supplemental Instruction sessions for course specific support
- Using the resources found in the NTC Learning Toolkit course on Canvas for support with academic skills
- Success Coaching for working towards academic success goals
- Working with your trusted mental health provider for mitigating stress and anxiety during learning, or for managing medication regiments impacting attention, executive functioning, and/or anxiety management while completing the formal reasoning curriculum
- Aforementioned in-class and testing accommodation support through the Goldman Center
