Registration and Registration Time Tickets
Registration time tickets are calculated based on a student’s level (graduate or undergraduate) and number of earned credit hours. Time tickets for registration are assigned based on the number of earned hours, allowing students with a higher count of earned hours to register before those with fewer earned hours. Time ticketing is designed to be most equitable for all students.
Registration is managed by the Office of the University Registrar. Learn more about the Registrar's time ticket and registration policies using the links below:
Resources for Navigating Class Registration
A competitive registration process is part of Tulane University's rigor and academic standards expected of all students. Students with disabilities may have added concerns in the registration process in terms of managing health concerns and balancing academic workloads.
The Office of the University Registrar oversees registration policies and procedures and have put together a resource guide and Registration FAQs to support students in this process.

Accommodation Routes for Support in Class Registration
Students with disabilities may be concerned with registering for classes for many reasons, including creating a class schedule that ensures:
- Access to buildings with elevators and classrooms with accessible entrances
- Time between classes for physical access concerns such as traversing campus, taking necessary breaks, time of classes, etc.
- Control over the schedule of treatment, such as chemotherapy, infusions, dialysis, and other non-adjustable treatment concerns.
For students with a medically-necessary need for control over class location and time, the Goldman Center may request that the student's registration time slot be made earlier through the Registrar so that the student can mitigate access concerns posed by certain buildings or class times. For some students, this might also mean the Goldman Center can assist with classroom relocation when necessary for equitable access. If you are already approved for accommodations, you may submit an Additional Accommodation Request through your Goldman Center Portal or request new accommodations.
The University typically does not consider accommodations around registration due to concerns caused by:
- Executive functioning and attentional concerns
- Anxiety around scheduling classes
- Medication management that is variable in nature, or that can be appropriately adjusted through your healthcare professional
Due to the fundamental nature of the design of time ticketing through the Office of the University Registrar, an unnecessary adjustment to a student's time ticket can alter standards set by the institution. Necessity is determined by accessibility considerations, when there is no alternative or campus-based resource for support that can address the access barrier.
Please note that if your original documentation does not address concerns related to registration or class location, you may need to submit new documentation related to your request to avoid determination delays.
Due to logistical considerations, the Goldman Center cannot guarantee that, if approved for a registration-related accommodation, your accommodation will be applicable within that same semester.
Accommodating Learning Needs in the Academic Environment
Students with disabilities may be concerned with registering for classes for many learning-based or attentional-based reasons as well, including:
- A desire for a smaller class section for learning preferences
- A desire to have greater control over scheduling for executive functioning planning and preferences
- A desire to take a certain professor, preferring that professor's style of teaching
In support of these concerns, appropriate accommodations through the Goldman Center for equitable access may include considerations such as extended time for testing, notetaking accommodations, and other considerations to support students in their classrooms.
Managing Stress and Anxiety during the Registration Process
The registration process can be a stressful time for many students. Registration and picking out your ideal schedule is important for planning for academic success, feeling secured in your major, and achieving your ideal balance of academic and social obligations. Due to class sizes and course offerings, there is no guarantee that any student gets their ideal schedule for learning preferences.
For students who experience heightened stress or anxiety during the registration process, the Goldman Center encourages students to access resources across campus designed to support students through this stressful season of academic planning. The Goldman Center is not able to make modifications for registration due to concerns around the process of registration.
