Jessica Machado, MA, CAGS, ADAC, NCSP
Director

Jessica Machado (she/her) serves as the Director of the Goldman Center. She has over a decade of experience in disability access, working in a variety of higher education settings, including small and large public and private universities. Jessica has experience developing specialized support programs, including intensive supports for college students with autism. Prior to working in higher education, Jessica worked as a school psychologist in the K-12 school system. Jessica has completed certification requirements for ADA Coordinator Certification (ADAC) through the ADA Coordinator Training Certification Program (ADATCP) and Association of Title IX Administrators (ATIXA). Jessica is nationally certified as a school psychologist (NCSP) through the National Association of School Psychologists. She has completed her MA in Psychology and Certification of Advanced Graduate Studies (CAGS) in School Psychology from George Mason University.

In her spare time, Jessica likes to spend time with her friends and family, including her dog, Sophie. Jessica loves to sing and enjoys live music. She is a self-proclaimed foodie and delighted to try all that New Orleans has to offer!


Angela James, MA
Associate Director

Angela James (she/her) is the Associate Director of the Goldman Center for Student Accessibility. She is also a Licensed Professional Counselor and Board Approved LPC-Supervisor for the State of Louisiana. Angela has gained experience working in several areas of Student Affairs including Disability Services, Student Engagement, and University Counseling Services. Her educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in Communications and a master’s degree in Counselor Education with an emphasis on Student Affairs. She is currently pursuing her doctorate in Counselor Education & Supervision from the University of New Orleans. Her professional work has included writing, teaching, and presenting on a myriad of topics related to accessibility, counseling, leadership development, and diversity & inclusion.

A lifelong Southeast Louisiana native, Angela loves all things New Orleans including the food, festivals, and football, which is twice the fun with family and friends. Don’t be surprised to find Angela roaming around the city with a camera, book, or journal in tow.


Cathy Cruz
Assistant Director

Cathy Cruz (she/her) is the Assistant Director of the Goldman Center for Student Accessibility. She is passionate about supporting student success and creating opportunities for all students to reach their full potential. Cathy brings experience in student advising and program management, working in a variety of higher education settings and the non-profit sector. She earned her BA in Psychology, MS in Higher Education Administration, and a Graduate Certificate in Academic Advising from Florida International University. In her spare time, Cathy enjoys spending time with family, traveling, baking, dancing salsa, and playing kickball with friends. A Miami native and proud Latina, she is excited to be part of the vibrant and diverse New Orleans community.


Rowan Oliversen
Learning Specialist

Rowan Oliversen (she/her) is the Learning Specialist at the Goldman Center for Student Accessibility. Rowan has over a decade of experience teaching and department managing in New Orleans pk-12 schools, with a focus on special education. She has also worked in vocational rehabilitation in Chicago, teaching adult English language learners, and building playgrounds in neighborhood parks and schools. As someone who encountered barriers while pursuing her own education, Rowan brings empathy and understanding to students who access services through the Goldman Center. She is deeply committed to supporting students and works to ensure all students have the resources and opportunities needed to achieve post-secondary success. In her free time, Rowan enjoys doting on her rescues dogs, making arts and crafts, and voraciously consuming audiobooks.


Roux Fernandez Melguizo 
Administrative Assistant

Roux Fernandez Melguizo (he/him) is an Administrative Assistant at the Goldman Center for Student Accessibility. Born in Barranquilla, Colombia and raised in the suburbs of Minneapolis, Roux is passionate about promoting accessibility and inclusion in higher education and cultural heritage institutions. He holds a BA in Latin American Studies from Loyola University New Orleans and is currently pursuing a Master's in Library and Information Science from Louisiana State University. In his previous roles, Roux worked with students, educators, and culture bearers in museums in both Minnesota and Louisiana.

Evan Keller, MA
Assistant Director - Goldman Testing Center

Evan Keller (he/him) is serving as the co-Interim Director for the Goldman Center for Student Accessibility, and is primarily responsible for managing the Testing Center.  He is originally from Cincinnati and moved to New Orleans in 2016.  Evan holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Classics and a Master of Arts in Italian, both from The Ohio State University.  He has several years of experience teaching college courses in Italian, and has held a number of other positions at universities and in other industries.  

When not serving students, Evan enjoys reading, baking, traveling, zazen, binging on Netflix, and spending time with his family.


Jo Ellen Reyes
Access Coordinator - Goldman Testing Center

Jo Ellen Reyes (she/her) is an Access Coordinator for the Goldman Center for Student Accessibility, primarily working in the Testing Center. Jo Ellen joined the Tulane University community in February 2008 to provide administrative support to the Goldman Center. Previously, she was a ward clerk at Tulane University Hospital. When not serving students, Jo Ellen can be found spending her time with her family and friends.


Emily Meyers
Access Coordinator - Goldman Testing Center

Emily Meyers (she/her) is an Access Coordinator for the Goldman Center for Student Accessibility, primarily working in the Testing Center. Emily studied English, Journalism, and French at the University of Mississippi, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies. She previously worked in the title industry as well as the non-profit sector. In her spare time Emily enjoys reading, swimming, and spending time outside (when Louisiana weather permits it).
