Requesting Accommodations:
- Complete an online request form, providing detailed narrative information that should be considered in your request. Please use your Tulane email and TUID to complete this form.
- Have the suggested documentation supporting your request(s) ready to upload to the Goldman Center. Review these Documentation Guidelines for more information; you can also use our Goldman Center Fillable Provider Form for requesting this information from your provider. If you have concerns about the documentation requirement, please contact our office directly at goldman@tulane.edu or (504)-862-8433.
- Monitor your email affiliated with your application for next steps, such as self-scheduling your Access Interview or providing additional documentation.
Please review our Student page for more detailed information about the accommodations process at Tulane.
Desk Review Application:
All requests for accommodations are considered through an “interactive process,” where the Goldman Center considers a student’s narrative, supporting medical documentation detailing the functional limitations of a student’s disability, and the resources for support available at Tulane. The interactive process is typically completed through a scheduled Access Interview with a member of our team.
For specific requests, the interactive process can be conducted through the online application alone through our “Desk Review” option. Students may opt-in to this review through the standard online request form. A Desk Review eliminates the need for scheduled Access Interview when sufficient narrative information is provided by the student in the online request form AND the provided supporting documentation is sufficient.
A Desk Review process is applicable to ONLY the following accommodations.
- Extended time x 1.5 (50% additional time) for exams
- Distraction-Reduced Environment for Exams
- Use of Computer for Typing Notes
Requests which include more than the following will be contacted to schedule an Access Interview, even if part of their request could be processed via Desk Review. Note: Even if additional accommodations are recommended by a provider in a student’s documentation, the Desk Review will consider ONLY these listed accommodations.
By intentionally considering what access-based accommodations you may need at Tulane and only requesting those accommodations, you may experience a shorter wait-period between application submission and receipt of your determination. This is particularly true at high demand times, such as the start of an academic semester. However, there is no guaranteed timeline for determination for these requests. This is not a guarantee of an "expedited" review.
Can I still request additional accommodations?
If you are approved via Desk Review, you are more than welcome to schedule a time to consult with the Goldman Center about your approved accommodations. Students are also welcome to submit an “Additional Accommodation Request” to be considered for additional support; students would then be invited schedule an Access Interview to discuss this additional request.
