Transportation Access
Students with a medical need for temporary parking accommodations or access to campus transportation options can request this support through the online request form with the Goldman Center. This may include:
- Medical Needs Permit for parking (for short-term, temporary need) for commuter students who need proximity to classroom buildings. This Medical Needs Permit is designed to be temporary (maximum two semesters).
- Residential Parking Permit - Medical Exemption pass for on-campus first-, second-, and third-year students who need to park their vehicles in Diboll Parking Garage for transportation access associated with specific functional limitations and/or medical care. This determination is considered on an individual basis. Read additional information below.
- Accessible Campus Transport through Shuttles & Transportation for on-demand support, for approved faculty, staff, and students who need to navigate campus-transport.
Individuals with ADA plates or hang-tags do need to adhere to parking policies (including purchasing permits) set by Campus Services. If you are a first-, second-, or third-year student utilizing a state-approved hang-tag, please contact the Goldman Center to discuss your request for a Medical Exemption to the residential parking permit rules.
Students with injuries who need to utilize golf-cart services can request this support through Case Management.
Residential Parking Permits
Updates to University parking policies now exclude second- and third-year students from parking in Diboll Parking Garage. First-, Second-, and Third-Year students who have specific, disability-related need to access to their vehicles can request a medical exemption to be allowed to purchase a parking permit and access the Diboll Parking Garage. This permit change applies to parking vehicles on Tulane's campus.
The Goldman Center reserves the right to assess eligibility on a semester-by-semester basis. The Goldman Center will consider recommendations from providers but will make the final determination around disability access and medical exemptions.
To submit a request for a medical exemption for Residential Parking Permit - Medical Exemption.
- Complete the Goldman Center's Campus Residential Parking Permit Medical Exemption Request Form. Your request will not be considered complete without a copy of this form.
- Request corroborating information from your medical provider directly servicing your care, signed and on official letterhead
- Submit the completed information to the Goldman Center
- New requests can be submitted through our standard request process, using the completed Medical Exemption Request Form and your provider's letter of support as documentation.
- Students with existing accommodations should submit an Additional Accommodation Request, using the completed Medical Exemption Request Form and your provider's letter of support as documentation.
- After a review of your provided documentation, the Goldman Center will provide a determination via email.
The Goldman Center will review the information provided in the online request form. Each request is considered on a case-by-case basis. Generally, the Goldman Center does not consider medical exemptions for requests outside of these stated policies for medical necessity or state approved ADA tags. Like all accommodations, the Goldman Center must consider the scope of campus resources and support for students in conjunction with University policies, procedures, and capacity.
Our considerations are strictly around permission to park directly on Tulane's campus. We do not weigh on whether or not students can have their car in New Orleans or how to establish alternative parking solutions.
Residential Parking Permit Medical Exemption pass does not guarantee a parking space in Diboll Garage-- it simply allows permission to park your vehicle in Diboll. Students must still purchase a residential parking permit if approved for this accommodation.
Parking and Transportation Support:
Students who do not qualify for a specific medical exemption to the parking permit rules should consider the following resources:

- Makin' Groceries Line for accessing various grocery stores in the greater New Orleans area.
